Open Endurance Championship - Winter Series Round 2
Daytona Milton Keynes - 12 January
Due to the festive season, this event combined the 2nd round of the Open Championship for the multi-class formulae, with the 3rd round of the Prokart Series. Subsequently the turnout was good but the weather certainly did not reciprocate with temperatures hardly getting above freezing for most of the day.
The Promax of Gas n Go Qualified pole with Blue Thunder along side, whilst the Pro Extreme of SC4 and Javelin's Prokart, made up the second row.
With the drop of the green flag, Gas n Go scampered off into the lead and impressively it was the Prokart of Team X who lead the chase, closely followed by the Extreme of 200RPM and the Thunder Kart of SAS Racing. With 1 hour completed, Gas n Go had built up a one lap lead over SAS Racing who had moved up into 2nd place, Blue Thunder were now in 3rd with 200RPM, Team X and the Prokart of Javelin making up the top six.

Fuel stops and ever changing track conditions, shook up the running order as the 2-hour mark approached. 200RPM's Extreme was now battling for the lead with the Thunder of SAS, whilst the Prokarts of Team X, Grilli Corse and Javelin made up the next three places. As the half way stage approached, 200RPM had established a substantial lead over SAS, the Extreme of Donuts were now in 3rd place just in front of Blue Thunder and the Prokarts of Spin Doctors and Team X were fighting over 5th spot.
Over the next hour or so, the positions remained largely unchanged with the exception of Grilli Corse who had regained their pace and moved back into a strong 5th place. With an hour and a half to go, SAS started to eat into 200RPM's lead and by the same token, Blue Thunder were slowly gaining on 3rd place Dounuts. As the teams all completed the last of their mandatory fuel stops, SAS moved up to within a lap of the leaders; then in the closing stages the 200 RPM Kart suffered a

puncture which cost them well over a lap and SAS had to pit for a splash and dash fuel stop. Meanwhile, Blue Thunder had taken third spot from Donuts and Team X had moved in front of Grilli Corse to claim the Prokart honours.
With the chequered flag in sight 200RPM were progressively being caught by the Thunder kart of SAS Racing but not at a fast enough rate. With both karts on the same lap, it was 200RPM that cruised home to victory, leaving the Thunder karts of SAS Racing and Blue Thunder to make up the final podium positions.
